Title of event/project:
Global Schools for Local Action
URL to project/event starting point:
Global Schools for Local Action is an ongoing virtual classroom exchange that engages students in examining environmental and sustainable development challenges in their communities and shaping their own solutions for addressing these challenges. Students can find out what issues concern their peers in diverse regions across the globe. They can see comments, questions, and answers posted by students from around the globe, and share their own comments as well as ideas to foster positive action for nature. Also, in the "Virtual Think Tank" area of the website http://iucnyouthvoices.org/virtual-think-tank/;, we feature individuals and groups who are finding solutions to local environmental, conservation, and development challenges. We invite students to share their thoughts on these ideas.
Project/event directions for participation:
Global Schools for Local Action <http://iucnyouthvoices.org/global-schools-for-local-action/> is an ongoing virtual classroom exchange. Schools can participate by having their students share comments on the featured projects or ask the students who did the projects their questions. Schools can also submit their own projects by September 14 for posting/sharing on September 15, or select an exchange module, create a project following the module’s guidelines, and share it anytime with students in classrooms around the world. Please note: For internet security and student safety, the exchange is moderated, so there is a short time lag before comments that are posted begin to appear. And, it usually takes one week or more for school groups who are asked questions to respond.
